In the meantime, my friend, Marcia, came over with some of the food she made for the party. She brought Oscar and Wilde with her.
They went to live with Marcia two days ago. They're miniature poodle puppies. Oscar's on the right and Wilde is on the left.
They're so adorable--they bark at each other and then sometimes roll around on the floor for a while.
They prefer to be with someone else, though, so when I went to work on my computer for a little while, Wilde snuggled up with my foot and Oscar snuggled up with Wilde.
Marcia went and got flowers and a lovely vase to put them in. Sheila brought little dessert tidbits. Debbie brought potato sticks and peanuts (and will bring more food when she comes back at 1:00). She brought Gizmo with her (pictures of him and the other four-legged guests at my party later). Danny stopped by to tell me about potential places to feel 50 people for lunch tomorrow (it's a tour thing--I'll write more about that later as well). Then everyone except Oscar and Wilde left. They're going to stay with their Tia Cynthia until their mom gets back.
In the midst of all of this exciting stuff I was standing in the kitchen talking to Marcia and I suddenly got a little dizzy. I thought maybe I was having more sinus trouble and it was moving into my inner ear or something. Having my hand on the refrigerator for a little balance didn't seem to help so I reached over to the stove with my other hand. At that point Marcia noticed that I wasn't standing on my own anymore and asked if I was OK. I told her that either I was experiencing some form of vertigo or we were having an earthquake. When I looked up I saw that the lamp was swinging--that answered that question.
This was all during the time I was supposed to be having a little quiet time to get everything ready for guests. No problem. I'm getting more comfortable with all of this as time progresses.
Now, since I'm getting more comfortable as time progresses, more photos.
Welcome to my new home
Here's the living room before I moved in. Of course all the personal things were gone when that happened so, basically, there was the couch, chair, and table left in there.
This is the after picture. The original table and chair are in the very front left corner and the couch is under new cushions to the left of the new one I had made with drawers under it.
I'll have to take a better photo of the piece of art on the left. I love it at least as much as the other two pieces.
Here are the before pictures of the kitchen. You won't be able to see it in the after pictures but the propane tank has been moved outdoors and there is a shelf there now.
This doesn't look a ton different but there are now shelves to the right of the countertop. Under the countertop there are moving boxes. Those are temporary until I can save a little money to have them made as wooden "drawers" with wheels on them so they pull out easily. I will have four of them, a bit larger than the current ones, so they will go all the way across the bottom. The stove has been moved closer to the living room so there is plenty of room for pulling out the drawer that will be under that end of the counter. I may also have a drawer put under the stove's table--we'll see.
So, there you have it--the changes to the main part of the house. I have new shelves in the bedroom but that's about all that's new in there for now. It will undergo some more changes as well but nothing as dramatic as the living room.
The bathroom will have a few cosmetic changes as well and I'll keep you posted on those but for now the blue shower curtain works just fine.
Just as I was finishing up this part of the post I heard a commotion on the roof so I headed out with camera in hand. Unfortunately, the noise-makers were a little camera-shy.
The kids decided nothing more exciting was going to happen so they went back to bed to rest up.
And so, there we are, party preparations pretty much complete. Prepare yourself, the party is coming up.
Your photos are great of the before and after. WoW what a dramatic difference. Steve should see these. Congratulations!
